Prayer

How often do we pray and we dont know we are being wishful thinking or just plain stupid?

After seeing some prayers at Rong Shang Temple, some faiths have their places in some people's hearts.

  1. I too agree with TexisGirl. No prayer that are unanswered. Love this photo. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thank you all for the kind comments. I was there to pray too. Funnily I did not know if I had the same level of faith as the ones already there

  3. Let me play the devil's advocate after I say this is a very fine slice-of-life photo. There have been several major studies on prayer done in the U.S. by top scientists, doctors and even theologians. The results clearly showed prayer for sick people had no effect at all. In fact, if a sick person knew he/she was being prayed for, he/she got worse!

I have a hard time understanding a deity who would demand prayer before he/she would take action to deliver his/her beloved children from evil, like a tornado, say. Or why do people pray for rain? Is not God omniscient as well as omnipotent? What kind of god needs people to abase themselves before he or she brings relief? Why would such a god allow a drought or a tornado or a tsunami or a hurricane, etc., in the first place? Is such a god powerless against the forces of nature?

    Just asking... :-)

  4. Hehe you opened Pandora's box by mentioning this. I guess, this is to each of their own. After all it is a lifestyle choice as we asked why someone chooses to live an adrenaline fueled life style instead of sedentary inactive state in social isolation...
